Each finely minted square medallion contains one troy ounce of pure silver (99.9%) and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Medallions measure 1 1/8" x 1 1/8" and are approximately 1/8" thick.
The Mining Process Creating high quality silver medallions is a fine art that begins with heating pure silver until it is fully liquified. Next, the molten silver is poured into cylindrical forms, called billets, and allowed to cool. The billets are then carefully reheated and pressed, or extruded, into pliable strips. These strips are rolled to a precise thickness and fashioned into square blanks called planchets. Each planchet is thoroughly cleaned and then struck repeatedly under 260 tons of pressure by two hand polished stainless steel dies, resulting in a brilliant, mirror-like finish. Each die contains a distinctive design that is hand-rendered by an artist and meticulously sculpted in relief before being engraved on the die. After striking, the outer edge of each medallion is buffed and prepared for optional hand-painting.
